Ingredients

Cherry Overnight Oats

  • 2/3 cup fresh, pitted and diced cherries or frozen & thawed cherries 150g
  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds 10g
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon 1g
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar or honey 10g
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips - optional 50g
  • 1/2 cup old fashioned or rolled oats 50g
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt or dairy-free yogurt 70g
  • 2/3 cup water or milk of your choice 160g
  • 1/8 tsp fine salt >1g

Optional Topping:

  • 1 Tbsp cherry preserves
  • 1 Tbsp chopped dark chocolate or mini chocolate chips 10g
  • Additional fresh cherries

Instructions

  • Add 2/3 cup of cherries, 1 Tbsp chia seeds, 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon, and 1 Tbsp brown sugar into the bottom of a mason jar or bowl.
  • Muddle or stir together until the ingredients are combined.
  • If desired, add 1/4 cup of mini chocolate chips or chopped up bits of dark chocolate. It might sound odd, but they add a wonderful bit of texture!
  • Top with 1/2 cup rolled oats, 1/4 cup Greek yogurt, 2/3 cup water and a pinch of salt.
  • Give the oats a good stir to mix the ingredients together, then cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours or overnight.
  • When you're ready to eat the oats, remove from the fridge. You’ll see that the oats absorbed a lot of the liquid, so you might want to add a little more water or milk of your choice before eating.
  • If desired, top with a spoonful of cherry preserves and fresh cherries, and enjoy cold!
  • These cherry overnight oats keep in the fridge for up to 4 days.
